Some of our neighborhoods have very deep roots, families that have been here for generations. We also have waves of new immigrants that want to come here to live the dream.
We need to start looking at how to incorporate our communities and neighborhoods with our "new neighbors".
We also have an increasing population of seniors, many of whom have helped, to lay the building blocks, the foundation, that makes this city great! Our seniors helped pave the way for us to have a great city to live in and raise our families in, let us return the favor by helping to keep them in the city many of them love and helped build. There are ways that we can bring the seniors the resources they need, but we need to do it together. Many seniors are on a very limited budget as you may well know. As a society it should be a priority to help with our aging as well as our children. We are a sandwich generation between the old and the young, we need to help look out for their interests and their futures.
I will encourage the private sector to invest in our neighborhoods with senior friendly housing and accessibility.
